I posted this on Thanksgiving Day, 2014. The world is full of both grace and horrors, plus lots in between. At my blessed home, I am challenged by what may be the toughest job in the world: husband and father of four. Thankfully, I have a wonderful role model for this job. I love you, Dad.
I encourage you to make the time to watch this video. It reminds me of a line from the Goldie Hawn movie Overboard. Joanna Stayton asks the butler towards the end of the movie (after she recalls her life as a spoiled rich girl) if he, like all the others, thinks she is crazy. He replies, "Oh no, Madam. Oh no. Most of us go through life with blinders on, knowing only that little station to which we were born. But you, Madam, you have had the rare privilege of escaping your bonds for just a spell, to see life from an entirely new perspective. How you choose to use that information is entirely up to you."
Ric Elias was given that gift in a terrifying minute one day over the Hudson River:
Summary:
- Don't save the good stuff for later. Live and love life today.
- Get the ego out of the way so you don't waste time in things that don't matter with people who matter. Try to eliminate negative energy. Do not try to be right, choose to be happy.
- Above all, be a great parent.
